Dewy acres freshly mowed
The trees around them weave
A single house concludes the road
Like an idyllic centerpiece

Looks can easily deceive
But like rotten teeth behind a smile
They can’t conceal the grief
of a mum who lost her child

Only hours after giving birth
They took away her boy
Never to be seen or heard
on a farm in Illinois

Where she was born into a world of greed
to live a life encaged
To be robbed of what her children need
For another creatures’ taste
